The sail2day.com charter base in Lefkada is located in Vliho, just south of the tourist town of Nidri in a sheltered bay of the Ionian. A sailing trip from Vliho is the ideal starting point for a yacht charter in one of the most beautiful sailing destinations of the Mediterranean.
Where?
Vliho is village nеxt tо the seа οn thе east side of Lefkаda islаnd, spread alοng thе roаd.
The villagе gives the nаmе to Vlichо bay whiсh is enclοsed from thе sea bу Geni peninsula. The villagе is very nаrrow and the hоusеs are аrranged in 2 linеs alοng the seа.
Vliho Bay is a very large, well sheltered anchorage which has some good, rather other-worldly tavernas dotted around its coast.

Our Vliho base is an ideal spot to spend a dream sailing holiday starting from Lefkada.
From there you can discover the large islands of Kefalonia, Ithaca, Zante or the smaller islands of Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Atokos to the south by sailboat avoiding the very busy Lefkada harbour/marina and the narrow canal / bridge.
Directly out of Vliho Bay is Scorpios private island.

How to get to
our base in Vliho Bay
Private Transfer
We are happy to organise a private transfer for you and your party from the airport by minibus. Just let us know the details of your arrival and we will advise accordingly.
Access by Plane
The Aktion airport near Preveza on the mainland is about 45 minutes away from our base in Vliho and caters to many international charter flights.
Access by Car
Lefkas is accessible by car. Lefkas is 385 km from Athens, 420 km from Thessalonica, 180 km from Patra and 100 km from Igoumenitsa.
Access by Bus
There are daily bus connections to Athens and Patras, and some connections to Thessalonica with Lefkas town. There are bus connections from Lefkas town to Vliho.
Access by Ferry
Lefkas is connected to the mainland by a bridge. However, two small ports, Vasiliki and Nidri connect Lefkas to Kefallonia and Ithaki (or even the rest Ionian islands)

Check-in
Formalities & Documentation
Before you check-in, you will be handing over at SAIL2DAY welcome desk the documents required for check in and we will take care of formalities
such as signing required documents, handing the yacht’s formal documentation & concluding any pending payments (i.e. security deposit & any extras).
Security Deposit
As stated in terms and conditions, please note that security deposit has to be paid by Credit card (not debit).
Extras
All extras are paid at the base before embarkation.
The Yacht
You will be provided with an inventory list so you may check and confirm inventory delivered with the yacht. Our staff will demonstrate to you, all basic functional and operational features of the yacht and her equipment.
Check-out
Return of the yacht
Yacht should be returned to base, a day before the end of the charter period, latest by 17.00pm. 30 minutes before you return to our charter base, please inform our base manager (by mobile phone) about your ETA at the berth, in order to be able to help you with the berthing procedure. Anchoring is made by mooring on submerged chains, not on anchor.
Refuelling
The fuel truck is coming to our base to refill the fuel tank of the yachts every Friday afternoon. For more information, please ask the Base Manager.
Inspection
During check out, you are kindly asked to allow our staff to come aboard and inspect the yacht and the equipment. The inspection is detailed as we need to make sure that the yacht is in perfect condition for the next client chartering after you. After every charter, the yacht is also inspected underwater by diver to avoid any inconvenience.

Weather Conditions
Ionian islands area is famous for its calm sailing conditions, ideal for relaxing holidays between the beautiful green islands. Winds tend to be lighter from the northwest in the spring and stronger from the north or northwest in the hot summer months.
Baggage Type
Please only take soft bags and not suitcases as they would be too cumbersome onboard. Baggage storage is possible at our base at an extra cost.

Be aware, however, that the early check in procedure is based on the condition that the yacht will be returned from the previous charterer without any serious damage. If for any case early check process cannot be performed it will not be charged and this is not a valid condition for any kind of refund.
