From the cosmopolitan glamour of Fiskardo to the wild nature of the West Coast. A sailing destination that offers everything in one island.

Fiskardo. Where superyachts meet tradition. Safe, busy, and beautiful.

Sami & Agia Efimia. Great protection, easy access to caves, and fewer crowds.

Myrtos Beach. Only accessible in very calm weather, but unforgettable.
Kefalonia demands respect. It is the largest island in the Ionian, dominated by the black pine forests of Mount Ainos. For sailors, it offers a dramatic contrast: the high-end luxury of Fiskardo in the north versus the quiet, authentic Greek vibe of the southern ports. Whether you want to rub shoulders with celebrities or find a bay entirely to yourself, Kefalonia has it.
Our picks of Coastal Gems accessible by yacht.

The Vibe: The "St. Tropez" of the Ionian. It is the only village that survived the 1953 earthquake, so the Venetian architecture is stunning and colorful. It is where you go to see and be seen. For the Sailor: It gets incredibly busy. Pro Tip: Arrive before 14:00 to get a spot with long lines to the rocks on the north side. Why Go: High-end shopping, cocktail bars, and celebrity spotting.

The Vibe: A former fishing village that feels relaxed, welcoming, and spacious. Unlike Fiskardo, it doesn't feel "crowded"—it feels like a proper Greek holiday town with wide promenades and friendly locals. For the Sailor: The harbor is large with a new quay, making docking much easier for catamarans or less experienced skippers. Why Go: To visit the caves, rent a scooter to see Myrtos Beach from above, and enjoy excellent, fair-priced seafood.

The Vibe: A large, working port surrounded by lush green mountains. It feels more "commercial" but has a raw, natural beauty. It was the main filming location for Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. For the Sailor: It offers the best shelter in the area. If the weather turns rough, Sami is where you want to be. Why Go: To ride to the Antisamos Beach (where the movie camp was filmed) or visit the Drogarati Cave. It feels very green and "jungle-like" compared to the rest of the island.
The Greeks love eating out, sharing food with friends and enjoying the tasty ingredients their land and seas provide. The Ionian Islanders are no different and any visit to the archipelago will offer plenty of opportunity for memorable gastronomic experiences.
Having some of the most photographed beaches in Europe and natural beauty, Kefalonia island is a very well known destinations in Greece for Greeks and tourists.
